Akin Gurbuz has worked and honed his art in several countries around the wine-making world. Akin has been consulting and producing gold medal wines for most of Turkey’s most successful wineries. In 2015 Akin decided to go it alone and his wines have ‘secretly’ grown in popularity to his select crowd of wine drinkers throughout Turkey.

Gurbuz Winery is situated in an industrial estate in Buyukkaristiran. A very unlikely location, a gem hidden among the factories, his wine has been called by some ‘The best ever tasted in Turkey and beyond!’. His wine is often pre-sold as it’s popularity has grown. I’ve been lucky, as neighbour to Akin and his family, I have been involved every step of the way. Especially with the tasting, lending and bottling of his fine plonk!

With a daytrip, we’ll pick you up from a central location in Istanbul, travel by registered van with licensed guide. Arrive at the winery and tour of his production area and learn from the winemaker himself. We’ll taste his great Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat and his various Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and various red blends. Not just a little tipple of each but some fairly healthy doses of each.’No bottle opened is left behind’ lol.
